For one day only FoSOC will be having a Heritage walk combined with the 21st year of FoSOC being formed.
Come and walk in a ‘Porch of Eternity’, the original part of Southampton’s Old Cemetery (opened 1846), along paths that the Town’s Victorian inhabitants would have trodden. Find out why a burial ground proved such an attraction for the living in the 19th century, see what they would have seen, hear about people buried there they could well have known from local life, both well to do and of lesser standing. Meeting at the Non-Conformist Chapel at 2.00pm where there will be a display.
