Winter Bird Walk

Saturday 6th December 11:00 am

The Old Cemetery is a haven for bird life due to its variety of feeding and nesting habitats and the wealth of different trees there. Even in winter kestrels, green woodpeckers, great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, firecrests, goldcrests, redwings, and many small birds can be seen. Recently red kites overhead and noisy ring-necked parakeets have become regular sightings. We should have time to visit the nearby Cemetery Lake and maybe other parts of The Common for much more variety. As well as the usual duck, gulls, and members of the crow family there are often wild shovelers and herons at the lake. Wrap up warmly though and bring waterproofs just in case.
