At the former Non Conformist chapel in the cemetery, on Sunday morning of the 12th April, back for a second time, now used by FoSOC as their ‘centre’, Geoff Watts gave a free talk about ‘RMS Titanic and Southampton’. This concentrated specifically on how the coming to Southampton of the ship, and its subsequent loss, affected the town. With many images, Geoff took us through places, locations and buildings that can still be seen and some of the people involved in the tragedy. The talk was well received and we were joined by some descendants of people involved, providing additional interest to the subject.
All talks must be booked online via the Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery (FoSOC) website at Book Now. When making a booking, please ensure you specify your desired date, the number of people in your group, and your preferred time.
The talk duration is about 45 minutes to an hour.
All FoSOC talks/walks are free of charge. However, donations are warmly welcomed to support the ongoing work and care of the FoSOC organisation.
Keep a look out for our next free talk at the chapel in August The Good, the Bad and The Sad.
