Snails and minibeasts

Saturday 7th February 10:30 am

Early February is a very quiet time of year for invertebrates, especially flying insects, but provided the weather isn’t very cold it should be straight forward to find a wide variety of invertebrates from snails and slugs to woodlice, centipedes, millipedes, spiders, springtails, and bark lice to name just some examples. Not all will be readily identifiable, but we should be able to seek them out in the trees and scrub, on the ground, on bark, moss, stone etc, using various methods. We will learn the characteristics of the various groups and a little about their lifestyles. Maybe there will be other wildlife and plant life of interest too. Please bring warm clothing, stout footwear, and binoculars or magnifiers will be very useful.
