November Fungus Foray – led by Phil Budd

Saturday 16th November 2:00 pm

Most of the fungi tend not to be visible for very long and their appearance is much affected by the weather and ground conditions so in the space of a month the visible fungi are likely to be very different to what they were in mid October. As they say, a month is a long time in fungi politics! In November we will be searching among the fallen leaves for the likes of greasy tough-shank, lilac (and other) bonnet caps, the wood blewit, the fragrant and tawny funnel caps, and the yellow sulphurous knight, which smells strongly of moth balls. In open grassland there should be more bonnet caps as well as waxcaps, coral fungi, and various ‘little brown jobs’ on show.
