Early spring flowers

Saturday 22nd March 2:00 pm

I’ll be following in the footsteps of the late John Vetterlein and starting early in the season with this wildflower walk. Many spring bulbs have been planted over the years and at least some of these have naturalised well. There are daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops (usually gone over by late March), snowflakes, squills, and others. Some native flora will also be visible – buttercups, celandines, primroses, various speedwells, and many others. Hopefully, given some sunshine, we will see early insects like the bee-fly, bumble and other bees, and early butterflies too. Some trees and shrubs will be in bloom too. Despite the early date plenty to look for.
