This should be a breath of fresh air after the winter excesses, but hopefully not freezing cold or soaking wet fresh air. Fingers crossed! I have been watching birds in the old cemetery since August 1977 when I first joined a regular birdwatching group led by Frank Voysey, formerly the leader of the Southampton Group of the RSPB. The group folded in 1982 but I have often birdwatched here since. Over the years we have seen the arrival of Firecrest, Ring-necked Parakeet and Red Kite but Lesser Spotted Woodpecker are not seen now, and Spotted Flycatcher are rare summer visitors. We hope to see the winter residents in the cemetery as well as assortment of water birds on the Cemetery Lake.
