Usual Deaths

Sunday 21st July 2019

This morning’s walk in the Old Cemetery was led by FoSOC guide Lizzie O’Sullivan - Usual Deaths or deaths that could have been avoided. Between 20-25 members of the public and FoSOC members appeared the walk to hear Lizzie tell the stories of 12 persons buried in the Old Cemetery.
Lucky the weather was just right to walk around - no HOT sun or rain as in the previous days, in the cemetery.
Lizzie always has a hero on her walks and today was Isaiah Thomas Johnstone (picture of headstone) who was a fireman originally from London, he was always the first on the scene and first to go into the fire, many lives were saved by him.
Lizzie finished her walk with Henry Lane who died from slipping on Orange Peel, left by school children!
At the end of her walk she was given a very loud, well-deserved applause and a generous donation.
Well Done Lizzie!
